Industrial PFAS purification. Up to 99.95% reduction.
From lab-verified results to industrial scale. Helios incineration technology removes both short- and long-chain PFAS compounds with consistently high efficiency in heavily PFAS-contaminated flows with concentrations above 50,000 ng/l.
Two ways to treat heavily PFAS-contaminated water
Whether you produce large or small volumes of heavily PFAS-contaminated water, we have a solution that fits, on-site or at our facility.
On-site treatment - CONTESS
Helios installs and operates a CONTESS unit directly at your facility. Water treatment as a service, no investment.
- Facility capacity: 2,000 m³/year
- Volume reduction: up to 99.95%
- Price per cubic meter treated
- Installation, electricity, service and maintenance included
- Incineration of residual products included
External treatment - IDA facility
Send your heavily PFAS-contaminated water to our treatment facility in Halmstad.
- Facility capacity: 2,500 m³/year
- Volume reduction: up to 99.95%
- Minimum delivery: 5 m³
- Standardized pricing based on PFAS content
- Incineration of residual products included
- Transportation arranged separately
From Laboratory to Industrial Scale
Laboratory Testing
Extensive lab tests validating PFAS removal across short-chain and long-chain compounds.
Technology Development
Refined our evaporation process specifically for high-efficiency PFAS treatment.
Industrial Scale
Full-scale PFAS treatment launched at our IDA facility in Halmstad, in partnership with Stena Recycling.
PFAS contamination is everywhere
Known as "forever chemicals," PFAS do not break down and remain in soil and water. The established method for destroying PFAS is high-temperature incineration, which means that heavily PFAS-contaminated water, which consists largely of water, is burned in its entirety. Helios technology can separate PFAS contaminants from the water and enables only a concentrated waste stream to be destroyed.
Fire suppression
- Extinguishing water from foam fire exercises
- Empty fire extinguishers (AFFF)
- Residues from cleaning fire trucks and equipment
Airports and military
- Contaminated extinguishing water from training areas
- Contaminated soil and groundwater from fire training areas
- Collected water from remediation measures
Industrial processes
- Process water from manufacturing of fluorine-based chemicals
- Rinsing water from surface treatment and impregnation
- Wastewater from production containing PFAS
Waste and remediation
- Leachate from landfills with PFAS content
- Water from soil remediation of contaminated areas
- Collected water from treatment of contaminated materials
No saturation. Constant performance.
Unlike filter-based solutions, our incineration technology cannot become saturated. The reduction level remains constant through each treatment cycle and over time, providing reliable, predictable results.
The technology is developed for heavily PFAS-contaminated streams, such as water from emptied fire extinguishers or fire trucks as well as water from remediated PFAS-contaminated areas. Helios effectively treats both short- and long-chain PFAS compounds with a reduction of up to 99.95% of PFAS34. All concentrated PFAS residual material is sent to high-temperature incineration.

Reception of extinguishing water & foam
In addition to our plug-and-play on-site solution, we also accept smaller quantities of heavily PFAS-contaminated water at our facility in Halmstad. Our ambition is to contribute to reducing the spread of PFAS in the environment, while reducing CO₂ emissions by avoiding large quantities of water being sent directly to incineration.
This makes the solution flexible and adaptable for both larger and smaller volumes, from individual remediation jobs to ongoing treatment collaborations.

Challenge
Discarded fire-fighting foam consists of over 97% water but contains extremely persistent PFAS chemicals that require special handling. Previously, entire water volumes were sent to high-temperature incineration at considerable cost with no local treatment alternative.
Solution
A dedicated PFAS treatment facility powered by waste heat that concentrates the contaminants so that only the concentrate needs to be destroyed while simultaneously functioning as an innovation center to optimize PFAS treatment technology.
Results
- 1,500 m³ PFAS water treated per year
- ≤90% waste volume reduction
- 5 m³/day treatment capacity
- 2024 production start
