From Idea to Industrial Scale
Helios Innovations was founded on a simple belief: industrial evaporation — one of the most energy-demanding processes in water treatment — could be done simpler, cheaper, and greener. What started as a university-stage idea has grown into an award-winning, commercially proven technology deployed across Nordic industry.
2017
Idea born, Jonatan Persson sets out to rethink one of industry's most energy-intensive processes: evaporation.
2020
The technology is tested at industrial scale through seawater desalination.
2022
Transition to liquid waste management through lab and pilot trials.
2023
Full-scale waste treatment with the units “EVA” and “IDA” in Halmstad.
2024
Validated method for treating highly PFAS-contaminated water.
2025
CONTESS introduced. 10 units in operation.

For Helios, this means handling and recycling water on-site to eliminate unnecessary transportation, maximizing the recovery of both concentrate and purified water, and contributing to a new mindset within the industry where contaminated water is not seen as waste, but as a resource.
