Water Treatment for Automotive Production & Supply Chain

Automotive manufacturing generates some of the most regulated wastewater in industry — PFAS from paint lines, zinc and phosphate from pretreatment, and high-volume rinse water throughout. Our on-site treatment technology concentrates it all, cutting disposal volumes and compliance risk.

The Challenge

Why Water Treatment Is Critical for Automotive

With PFAS regulations tightening across the EU and OEMs demanding sustainability credentials throughout the supply chain, automotive water management has never been under more scrutiny.

Paint Shop & Coating Effluents

Automotive paint lines generate large volumes of heavily contaminated rinse water containing PFAS, heavy metals, phosphates, and pigment residues — some of the most complex effluents in manufacturing.

PFAS in Surface Pretreatment

PFAS compounds are widely used in automotive surface pretreatment and anti-corrosion coatings. With near-zero EU discharge thresholds now in force, even trace levels in wastewater require specialist handling.

Zinc & Phosphate Contamination

Zinc phosphating for corrosion protection is standard across the industry. Rinse water from these processes contains zinc and phosphate at levels far exceeding discharge limits.

High Water Consumption & Costs

Automotive manufacturing is one of the most water-intensive industries. Rising water costs, strict environmental reporting, and sustainability targets are pushing facilities to find smarter water management solutions.

The Helios Solution

On-Site Concentration. Zero Discharge Risk.

Our atmospheric evaporation technology concentrates paint shop effluents, PFAS-laden pretreatment water, and zinc phosphating rinse water on-site — without filters that foul, membranes that saturate, or chemistry that needs replenishing.

PFAS, zinc, and phosphates are retained in a small residual concentrate for specialist disposal. The rest evaporates as clean water vapour. We own and operate all equipment under a per-cubic-metre service contract — zero capital cost, zero technical risk.
